Fiskars 12-95197697W 24-Inch Crafting and Quilting Rotary RulerReviewsTo my knowledge, this ruler is the most important innovation for quilters to date. The rotary cutting blade is under a protective cuff. The cuff fits into the palm of my hand and slides along a metal guide with very little pressure. I am truly sorry Fiskars decided to quit making them. Fiskars directed me to Amazon.com for the last of the inventory. Regretfully, there has been no advertising for this product and many quilters have never even heard of the 24" rolling ruler. This year 5 people in my quilting group tried mine and bought their own. I gave them as Christmas presents to gals for quilting. Let me give you an example, when cutting 2 & 1/2 inch strips for a Grandmothers Dream quilt, we needed 8 different fabrics and 32 strips of each fabric. I was done in two 1/2 to three hours with t/o for laundry and sitting for breaks. Everyone doing the cutting was hand sore for days and they took 2 DAYS or 3 DAYS to cut their strips using rotary cutter and a ruler. This product redirects pressure from fingers and wrists to the palm of the hand. NO POSSIBLE WAY TO CUT YOURSELF WHILE CUTTING. GREAT FOR KIDS TO LEARN TO CUT WIDTH OF FABRIC. Get yours if u r a quilter. Most notions I have bought through the years are of little value or use. It is simple, safe and I use it SO much. I hope you have the chance to buy one from the small quantity at Amazon. YOU WON'T BE SORRY. I bought another when I heard no longer available - oh I forgot to mention, they use just the regular 45 blade. Average Rating:![]() |

Margaret Miller Presents Strips That SizzleReviewsMargaret Miller shows us how to make a fast and easy quilt from strips of fabric. By choosing two sets of color families and then playing with the layout of the resulting blocks, you can come up with many quilts, all of which look different even though they are made up of the same block. Choosing the layout may be the hardest part of this quilt process. Ms. Miller doesn't want the quilter to agonize over which fabrics to use. She suggests that the quilter just pick light to dark fabrics in two different color groups. Once those are chosen, she walks you through the process of creating the blocks - from cutting the strips to sewing the block to pressing and layout. These easy to make blocks will give you lots of possibilities for quilts, table toppers or wall hangings. Once you make one of these blocks, you will find out just how fun and easy they are. So go through your stash and grab seven or eight fabrics from dark to light in two different color groups and start sewing! Average Rating:![]() |

Alex Toys Patchwork Quilt Lacing Craft KitReviewsMy mother bought this for my daughter (age 10), thinking it would be fun for her to make, but then had to help her make it and had TROUBLE doing it herself! This is not easy to "stitch." My mother said it would have been simpler to just sew it together on a machine. Average Rating:![]() |

Layer Cake, Jelly Roll & Charm QuiltsReviewsThis is a great little book if you want ideas on how to put a quilt top together quickly. I made the "Old Gold" pattern and I can't believe how fast it went together, and I didn't have the layer cake. I cut all my own fabric because I already had it. I bought this book for myself and then bought another one and sent it to my sister out of State to help get her started on a new quilt. Another great quilt book Amazon is selling. Easy to read directions, great patterns - a really nice book. If there is only one quilting book you need to buy, this is the one! As I started browsing from page one, I'm so captivated by the quilting projects, it just blows my mind away! The projects are simple enough for beginners, and also includes projects for more advanced quilters. Almost every project featured is so beautiful, I can't wait to start quilting right away! I will be making many quilts from this book, no doubt! This is a great book, full of inspiration and wonderful quilts. There's something for the beginner but also ideas and layouts for the more experienced. Clear instructions and lots of pics. Can't go wrong with this one. Layer Cake, Jelly Roll and Charm Quilts offers some 17 diverse quilting projects and design options that move away from simple scrap quilts or scrap charm quilts. These are created from one layer cake or charm pack and each quilt uses pre-cut fabrics with little or no waste. The step-by-step instructions make for easy projects for all levels, and a fine photo-packed guide for any quilting collection. Average Rating:![]() |
